Using immersive virtual reality to transform apprenticeship recruitment into an engaging, scalable industrial outreach experience.

Manufacturing employers often face challenges attracting new talent, communicating the reality of industrial careers, and engaging younger audiences through traditional recruitment methods. Irish Cement sought a more immersive way to present its operations, showcase apprenticeship opportunities, and connect with prospective recruits.

Emagine developed Rock to Reality, an immersive virtual reality experience designed to support apprenticeship recruitment through digital engagement. Combining live-action footage, drone capture, CGI, and interactive elements, the project positioned virtual reality as a practical recruitment and industrial outreach tool rather than a passive factory tour.

The experience takes users through the Platin factory, including key operational areas, advanced manufacturing processes, and apprentice perspectives, combining industrial storytelling with authentic insight into the workplace. Designed for portable VR headsets, the system supports deployment at trade shows, apprentice fairs, and online outreach, creating a scalable recruitment platform.

The project established a model for immersive industrial recruitment, helping demonstrate how virtual reality can support talent attraction, apprenticeship engagement, and digital workforce outreach in manufacturing environments.
