Connecting place, history, and storytelling through immersive interpretation designed for heritage destinations.
Heritage destinations often face challenges presenting layered history, restricted-access spaces, and complex narratives in ways that engage modern audiences. Lismore Heritage Centre sought a more immersive way to connect visitors with the history, people, and wider significance of Lismore Castle beyond conventional interpretation.
Emagine developed an integrated interpretation experience combining augmented reality, virtual reality, immersive set recreation, and touchscreen storytelling. The aim was to move beyond static heritage interpretation and create a richer visitor journey that connected local history with broader national context.
The project combined recreated architectural elements, an augmented reality introduction space, a virtual reality historical chronicle, and interactive touchscreen interpretation. Rather than using digital elements as isolated features, the project was designed as a connected interpretive system that supports visitor engagement across multiple layers of the experience.
The project established a model for how immersive interpretation technology can help heritage destinations improve storytelling, deepen visitor engagement, and present restricted or inaccessible heritage through digital experience and layered interpretation.
